GROOVE - Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is GROOVE?

The Groove DANCEfloor Experience is a unique dance class that is inspired by both conventional and freestyle dance approaches. GROOVE brings the best from both worlds with enough structure to make it accessible to everybody and lots of space for freedom and creative, authentic expression.

  • Is GROOVE a workout / fitness class?

It depends on how much you want to move. You can GROOVE seated or standing. Dance hard if you want cardio and strength, or take it easy if you’ve got less energy to give. You choose your own pace and can take breaks whenever you need to. I’ll guide you with a few simple movements to each song. You get to move it your own way.

  • Is Body Groove the same as GROOVE?

Body Groove is the online app version of the live Groove DANCEfloor Experience (GROOVE). Both are separate independent companies owned and run by the inspirational, Misty Tripoli, who created Groove and The World Groove Movement.

  • I can’t dance. Can I GROOVE?

    Yes. 100%.

Our motto is if you can move, you can GROOVE. We’re born with a natural instinct to respond to rhythmic sounds. GROOVE will change your mind about what dance is. Come and give it a go. You’ve nothing to lose and I promise you will surprise yourself. Your first class is FREE to try.

  • I'm not coordinated. Can I GROOVE?

    Yes. Absolutely.

There’s no front or back or standing in rows. No routines or challenging choreography. GROOVE is the easiest movement class you can do. You don’t need to know your left from your right or your up from your down. Coordinated or not, you literally can’t get GROOVE wrong.

  • What should I wear?

Leggings, floaty skirts, trousers, harem pants, normal wear, sports wear, long tops, crop tops, sleeves, no sleeves. No rules. Anything goes. Go for something lightweight and comfortable that you can move freely in. A sports bra if you need extra support. Bare feet, trainers, dance pumps, grippy socks. Whatever feels the most comfortable.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Just water and a warm layer for the end of class. If you are asthmatic, please bring your inhaler and let your instructor know where it is. Other than that, just bring you. No special equipment is needed.

  • Is GROOVE good for the mind too?

Absolutely. GROOVE is good mood food. Freeing, liberating, releasing, energising, uplifting, transforming and healing. Groovers across the world are dancing for mental health and wellbeing as much as for the physical benefits.

  • Am I too old to GROOVE?

If you're in good health and steady on your feet, you can GROOVE. Age is just a number and GROOVE will help you keep fit, mobile, and young at heart. No matter your body shape, size, age, or fitness level, GROOVE is for you.

  • Is there a lower age limit?

You must be over 16 to attend a GROOVE class. Participants between the ages of 16 and 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian. Or why not invite your mum along? We reckon she’ll love it too.

  • How do I book a class?

You can purchase GROOVE credits in advance via the Shop. Or choose a 1 or 6 class pass during the booking process when you book your class directly via the Calendar. Either option is perfect.

During checkout, you’ll be guided to create an account. Or log in if you’re already registered.

If you’d like a reminder before your class, go to account settings and choose a notification option.

  • What happens if I miss a class?

To give you some wriggle room, each 6-credit class pass will be valid for 2 months from the date of purchase. Or 14 days for a single credit pass. After that, your credits will expire. Credits cannot be refunded. If your preferred class is fully booked, please get in touch, I may be able to add a space on request.

  • What is your booking and cancellation policy?

You can read our full booking terms and conditions here: https://www.soozikay.co.uk/terms

  • Anything else I need to know?

You will be asked to complete a PARQ health/ participation form before your first class.

If you have any medical conditions or injuries, or you are worried about any aspect of your health that could prevent you from doing physical activity, you must consult your doctor before attending a class.

Please arrive in plenty of time for your class to get the full GROOVE experience.
